New Customers, Expanded Field Operations Propel Idiom To Globalization Leadership
Demand from Leading Enterprises Validates Product Leadership in Content Globalization Market
Waltham, Mass. - April 17, 2002 - Idiom Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of content globalization solutions, finished its first quarter 2002 with increased sales and market momentum, adding major new name accounts to its client base and expanding engagements with existing enterprise customers. During the first quarter the company also expanded its sales and marketing organization and started shipping the latest generation of its WorldServer globalization management system.
"Companies recognize that a strong global presence is critical to achieving revenue and market share goals and retaining customer loyalty in today's competitive market," said Fred Lizza, CEO of Idiom Technologies, Inc. "But they find that taking their online and offline content global and maintaining business-critical information in multiple languages can be prohibitively complex and expensive. Idiom is focused on providing our customers with complete solutions enabling them to efficiently and cost-effectively manage this globalization process."
New Customers
Among Idiom's major new customers are leading multinational organizations like Parametric Technologies Corp. (PTC), Oracle, and Baxter Healthcare, who selected the Idiom WorldServer globalization management system to help them manage the cost and complexity of deploying and maintaining business information - both online and offline - in multiple languages. These companies are now leveraging Idiom technology to speed their time to global markets, increase their international market share, and strengthen their brand consistency worldwide.
Client Implementations and Engagements
During Q1 2002, Idiom expanded its WorldServer implementations at leading companies such as Adobe, Staples, Travelocity, and Xilinx. Staples, who had been using WorldServer to maintain its Canadian site in English and French Canadian, has extended its WorldServer operations to deploy the staples.de site. Adobe is now using WorldServer to synchronize additional multilingual content such as marketing materials for its Japanese, French, Swedish, and German sites, while Travelocity has expanded WorldServer use to manage three additional local language sites: French, Portuguese, and Spanish.
Sales and Marketing Expansion
During the quarter, Idiom reorganized and expanded its sales and marketing organization to better position the company for growth in 2002. Joe Fiorentino joined Idiom as Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Services. Joe came to Idiom from Eprise and has focused on rebuilding the sales team with enterprise and content management expertise. Chris D'Errico joined Idiom as Vice President of Professional Services and Support, managing both pre-sales consulting activities and post-sales implementation services. Chuck Conley joined Idiom as Vice President of Marketing with responsibility for directing worldwide marketing activities, expanding the reach of Idiom's marketing programs, and further developing Idiom's identity as the leading provider of content globalization solutions.
Product Leadership
In Q1 2002, Idiom began shipment of WorldServer 5, the latest generation of its market-leading globalization management system. WorldServer 5 includes significantly enhanced translation technologies including the industry's first centralized, sharable, enterprise-level Translation Memory and Terminology Database.
"The second half of 2001 was admittedly slow for the entire globalization industry and enterprise software space," said Chuck Conley, vice president of marketing at Idiom. "We took the opportunity to completely re-tool WorldServer, bringing it to a new level of usability and enterprise scalability. We're already seeing the payback measured by increased sales activity and more streamlined customer implementations."
