E-Business Globalization Pioneer Idiom, Inc., Unveils Worldserver2 Solution At Prestigious Demo 2000 Conference

Synchronize Multiple Worldwide Web Sites for Unprecedented International E-business

INDIAN WELLS, Calif - February 7, 2000 - Idiom, Inc., the premier provider of e-business globalization solutions, today announced WorldServerTM 2 - a new release of its software to enable global enterprises and dot-coms to leverage the e-business potential of the Internet. WorldServer2 is an open, Web-based application that enables companies to manage the complexities involved in creating and maintaining a multi-national Web presence. It facilitates deployment of a global Web strategy embracing multiple countries, languages, cultures; business practices and access devices while leveraging an organization's existing Web architecture, content management and workflow systems.

Web Globalization Demand
The Internet represents a massive global business opportunity. IDC estimates that the global online population will grow from 4 percent today to 11 percent by 2003-when 500 million people will have access to the Internet. In addition, by 2002, non-US customers will account for 37% of all e-commerce. In order to capitalize on this international e-business opportunity, global enterprises and dot-coms are seeking to tailor their Web sites to local audiences.

"Because of the huge growth in Web usage outside North America, global enterprises view the Web as a way to increase revenue through marketing and ecommerce across the globe," said Fred Lizza, president and CEO of Idiom. "By globalizing their Web presence with WorldServer2, organizations increase revenues by addressing buyers in their own language, and appealing to local cultural buying motivators. WorldServer2 empowers our customers to maximize the global e-business potential of the Web."

WorldServer 2
Prior to WorldServer, global enterprises and dot-com companies faced problems deploying, maintaining, and synchronizing a multi-national Web presence. WorldServer2 solves this problem by providing a global infrastructure for linking Web contributors, content, and functionality, and by facilitating translation and adaptation of Web material for local audiences. For the first time, companies can put in place a system that leverages collaboration among worldwide employees, partners, and vendors, keeps local sites consistent and up-to-date, and balances local autonomy with central control. WorldServer2's open architecture enables it to integrate rapidly and naturally with any of the complex, heterogeneous Web architectures in place today. WorldServer2 comprises four key components: Business Rule Linkage™, Translation Workbench™, Workflow™, and Web Content Interface™.

Business Rule Linkage
Traditionally, companies have built local sites by selectively copying, localizing, and translating from the domestic site. As the sites grow and change, material becomes unsynchronized and obsolete. Business Rule Linkage (BRL) addresses this problem by enabling organizations to establish links, based on business rules, between original Web elements and all local versions. As an original element changes, BRL automatically initiates a set of processes to update each of the local copies. BRL enables site managers and contributors to maintain and synchronize related and dependent content and processes across international markets.

Translation Workbench
Managing a global Web presence involves tailoring large volumes of material to local markets. Translation Workbench is a comprehensive set of tools that enable technical and non-technical contributors to easily and intuitively perform translation. Through a collection of powerful tools, Translation Workbench supports two models of human translation: direct and loose adaptation.

Workflow
Workflow is an intuitive Web-based module that improves collaboration among all Web contributors worldwide, including employees, partners, and vendors. It assigns, routes, and tracks work insuring effective and efficient collaboration. In addition to using WorldServer's integrated workflow, customers can integrate WorldServer into their existing workflow software through open APIs.

Web Content Interface
E-businesses today are built on a wide variety of commercial and proprietary architectures. Through its Web Content Interface, WorldServer2 integrates rapidly and naturally into any architecture. Idiom also sells prepackaged connectors to the Web Content Interface for industry standard databases, content management systems, and source control systems.
