Idiom Enhances The Flexibility Of Worldserver
With New Software Development Kit
New SDK Makes it Easier for Customers to Seamlessly Integrate WorldServer Into their Existing Environments
Waltham, MA USA - June 1, 2004 - Globalization Management Systems (GMS) leader Idiom
® Technologies, Inc., today announced a new Software Development Kit (SDK) to accompany its industry-leading family of WorldServer™ globalization solutions. The new Idiom SDK provides a variety of APIs, and an expanded set of libraries and "how to" examples that make it easier for organizations to extend WorldServer, and integrate it seamlessly into their existing environments.
WorldServer is the industry's leading enterprise-class globalization management solution for creating, translating, localizing, and publishing content of any kind, in any language, simultaneously. Its modular, J2EE-based architecture can be integrated into any customer network and security infrastructure. Through an extensive set of out-of-the-box
connectors, WorldServer connects to many of the leading content management solutions, source code management systems, databases, and authoring tools. The new SDK complements existing integration capabilities, and provides functionality needed to connect WorldServer to a wider array of commercial or homegrown systems. It also enables customers to extend WorldServer themselves—or in concert with Idiom professional services—to achieve a perfect fit within existing IT environments.
"Our new SDK takes advantage of the WorldServer modular internal architecture, to provide customers with access to the various WorldServer subsystems through straightforward, intuitive interfaces," said Eric Silberstein, Founder and CTO, Idiom Technologies. "It's now much easier for customers to add specific features, or create seamless integrations between WorldServer and other systems, with or without our support."
The new SDK includes several new application programming interfaces (APIs), as well as enchancements to a number of existing APIs.
New APIs: Component Framework: for creating and executing applications and Java servlets that access WorldServer services
Link Management: providing the ability to create, access and manage links to the original and/or translated content managed by WorldServer
Scope Leverage: providing access to project scoping metrics for translation memory (TM) matches
Enhancements to existing APIs: Asset Interface System Management: providing access to folders, files, and translation segments managed and accessed through the WorldServer asset interface system
Terminology Database: allowing customer-developed applications to create and delete TD entries
Translation Memory: enabling customer-developed applications to create and delete TM entries
User Management: provides access to user information including user types and workflow roles, and enables the assignment of users to workgroups, locales, and workflow roles
Export/Import: supports exporting and importing TMs (TMX), TDs (CSV and Multi-term), and Translation Kits (SDL, IDZ, Trados and XLIFF)
"Our customers are some of the largest, most successful companies in the world, and they use WorldServer to localize and publish content that resides in various places throughout their global enterprises," said Dave Rosenlund, Idiom vice president of Marketing and Business Development. "As a result, WorldServer has been designed to integrate with more content-, web-, document-, and database-management systems than any other offering in the industry. Our latest SDK provides an even greater level of flexibility to help our customers extend WorldServer to address their particular needs."
Availability:The WorldServer SDK supports all editions of the WorldServer product family. It has been available to select customers for several months, is expected to be generally available by the end of June.
