Idiom Worldserver Selected By Core To Streamline, Automate And Improve Quality Of Clinical Research Translation Processes

CORE Maximizes Staff Productivity With Best-in-Class Workflow and Translation Memory to Help Translate and Format Multinational Clinical Trial Documents Used in Health Outcomes Research

Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - August 3, 2005 - Idiom ® Technologies, Inc. (Idiom), the only enterprise software company to deliver advanced XML-based publishing and content globalization solutions, today announced that the Center on Outcomes, Research and Education (CORE) at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare has selected Idiom WorldServer™ GMS (Globalization Management System) to improve translation processes across the organization. CORE's mission is to improve patient care and quality of life by bridging clinical activity and outcomes research.

Primary business drivers for CORE include intense consumer and regulatory demand for larger, more complete clinical trials, combined with the need for more efficient capture and translation of increasing volumes of data. To serve the growing needs of its clients, including individual clinicians, international research groups and pharmaceutical firms, CORE needed to address several important aspects of its formerly manual translation processes.

"We set forth a comprehensive list of project requirements to help close emerging process and technology-related gaps at CORE. We were impressed with the broad capabilities of WorldServer and its flexible, scalable approach to addressing our most urgent project-management priorities," said Sonya Eremenco, director, Translation and Formatting Services Division, CORE. "With the robust functionality of WorldServer — including its ability to automate processes, improve workflow and create new cost and time efficiencies using a centralized translation memory (TM) database — we should be better able to maximize our resources, manage translations more efficiently and competitively position our business for long term growth."

Using WorldServer, CORE will be able to achieve a centralized mechanism for creating, assigning, conducting and tracking localization projects, along with a means for automating manual functions, such as document filtering and formatting. Additionally, for its clients in the intensely competitive pharmaceutical market, CORE can now dramatically shrink delivery windows without compromising the quality and accuracy of translations.

CORE is well-known for its expertise in the development of patient reported outcomes measures in cancer and other chronic illnesses, which are used for clinical trials and outcomes research. WorldServer will play an integral role in the operations of the Translation and Formatting Services division that developed a methodology for translating equivalent patient reported outcomes measures, facilitating data pooling in multinational clinical trials for regulatory submission. WorldServer provides a scalable, centralized framework that helps ensure the quality and consistency of work being done by CORE's extensive translation resources around the world, including 500 translators in Europe; North, South and Central America; Asia; Africa and Australia.

"Based on CORE's short- and long-term business needs, WorldServer is well-suited for its high-demand environment in which quality and accuracy of translated data can make or break an organization," said Dave Rosenlund, vice president, marketing and business development, Idiom Technologies, Inc. "WorldServer offers the industry's most advanced asset interface system which integrates easily with existing content management solutions. CORE can now take advantage of its Repository application while offering additional cost containment advantages by improving content reuse and streamlining workflow."
