Idiom Backs New Support For Dita In Adobe Framemaker 7.2

Authoring and Publishing Teams Can Now Take Advantage of the Content Quality and Reuse Benefits Inherent to This Increasingly Popular XML Standard

Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - September 12, 2005 - Idiom ® Technologies, Inc. (Idiom), the only enterprise software company to deliver advanced XML-based publishing and content globalization solutions, today announced its intent to deliver support for Adobe® FrameMaker® 7.2 software. The new release of FrameMaker incorporates support for an important new XML authoring and publishing standard, DITA (Darwin Information Typing Architecture). To date, Adobe has incorporated Idiom WorldServer™ solutions across a number of product and internal corporate documentation initiatives.

Specifically, Adobe is utilizing Idiom WorldServer™ OpenTopic, the only commercial DITA-powered solution to help global companies accelerate the delivery of XML-based content to market by simplifying the creation, management, localization and production of print and electronic documents. DITA is an XML-based, end-to-end architecture for authoring, producing and delivering readable information as discrete topics. By incorporating DITA support into Adobe FrameMaker 7.2 software, authoring teams can take advantage of the benefits of standards-based, single-source publishing across all their documentation work, improving the way they create and deliver topic-driven documents and online help systems.

"Building on the solid relationship between Idiom and Adobe, we are proud to support those authoring and publishing teams who are looking to take advantage of the benefits of DITA through FrameMaker 7.2," said Eric Richard, vice president, engineering, Idiom Technologies, Inc. "We are encouraged about the future of DITA, particularly as companies like Adobe become more deeply involved in efforts to drive adoption and raise its visibility. Adobe FrameMaker is the dominant solution in the technical publishing space, and its support for DITA will make this standard accessible to a greater community of users."

OpenTopic is an optional add-on DITA module to WorldServer™ Global Electronic Publishing, which dramatically improves the efficiency of global XML publishing efforts, speeds information and product delivery to international markets, increases content quality and decreases costs. WorldServer Global Electronic Publishing includes strong integration with preferred authoring tools, such as Adobe FrameMaker, and enables content developers to easily insert information like cross references, content references and related links. Once topics have been authored, Adobe FrameMaker users can share them across multiple documents and assemble them into different output formats such as printed materials, PDF manuals and HTML Help.

"With the release of FrameMaker 7.2, Adobe is furthering the content quality and consistency benefits related to maximizing the use of structured data formats like XML," said Kay Ethier, founder, Bright Path Solutions. "The integration of DITA support is a strong signal that this topic-driven architecture, which fuels content reuse and project efficiency, will be how forward-thinking companies will handle the authoring and publishing of technical documentation."

To more deeply address the topics of single-sourcing, XML and DITA as they relate to Adobe FrameMaker, Bright Path Solutions recently launched FrameMaker 2005 Chautauqua™. This educational conference will take place November 7-9, 2005 in Raleigh, NC and will provide an opportunity for FrameMaker users and certified experts to collaborate and learn more about Adobe and its vision for the future of the product. The use of Idiom WorldServer will be highlighted in several sessions. For more information, visit http://www.travelthepath.com/chat/chautauqua.html.
